I left for Mexico today with 8 teenagers and two adult sponsors. This was our annual Mexico Invasion Missions Trip. Students from all over the border with Mexico descend for two weekends to spread Jesus with people who need Him. Having come from the church in Mission, going back is always a wonderful experience. Janie and Faith joined me for the Friday night service before returning home. I enjoyed so much being able to show off our new baby.
The Missions trip was great as usual. Our teenagers not only ministered to others, they were ministered too. They love going on the trip, and I love taking them. There is so much value in doing the work of God, not just hearing about it.
This time was a little harder on me than the past. I spent 68hrs away from my wife and child. Now I understand why other youth pastors on past trips have spent hours on the phone with their families. This is the first trip I have taken without them. It's OK, I survived. However, looking forward to future trips is rather depressing.
